thats me with the big hair. and bottom, Paul Berrill, drums. The
love of metal brought us together and the guy that wrote the
newspaper cutting wanted to be our manager.
So, he heard that Grand Slam wouldnt pay the travel expenses for
Driveshaft. Now i realise that its all hearsay so stories may differ.
That day we were asked could we fill the spot. A real no brainer.
When soundchecking as usual the main bands crew were not the most
helpful, but we we well used to this kind of treatment from opening
for other acts. For us at the time we were living the dream. At the
back of the stage was a room we were hangin around with some of the
crew. In walks Phil and chatting with the crew says to us , are
youse the support band. We were starstruck and mumbled yes or
something. Then he left. Witchaven played a real stormer. There
crowd were 500 approx, the biggest we played to. To be honest.
There were mixed feelings from the audience about Grand Slams
performance. They played all new material if i,m not wrong. We were
in the presence of a true star though and sadly missed.
