From what I remember the band had a crazy touring schedule with the roadies arriving without sleep in the early morning of the gig. It was clear from the very 1st minute that they were completely out of their heads and with a schedule behind them with hardly any sleep etc. – they were all exhausted and immediately started looking for reasons to be able to cancel the gig, a kind of a cooked up scam. The band was apparently in Amsterdam and we later heard from a journalist/ band friend that Phil L. had overdone it and was not able to perform. There were some phone calls between roadies and management and as a result the band cancelled the gig because supposedly the stage and PA were not in order – the same PA that had Bram Tchaikovsky and John Mayall playing without problems.

We had prepaid their fee which was either 75.000 Dutch guilders or 75.000 USD dollars – I forgot, but that amount is still in my head somewhere. It turned out to be stalled in some Thin Lizzy offshore account in Guernsey and the combination of that plus that they claimed ‘technical problems’ from our side made us realize that we would never get that money back. I love their music but have no warm feelings for the band, what a sad bunch, to let so many of your fans down, I think there were 12.000 to 15.000 people at that event.
